Total Value of Bills (Number Sentence) Worksheet Download
This worksheet shows a group of one, five and ten dollar bills and asks the student to pick which of four number sentences gives the total. The sentence groups the larger bills against the ones, like $15 + $3 = $18. Every choice adds up correctly and only the first number changes, so the answer cannot be found by checking the arithmetic - the bills have to be counted. The wrong choices are the mistakes students actually make: leaving out a bill, folding the one dollar bills into the first number, or using the grand total as the first number. Totals stay at twenty dollars or less.
