About this worksheet
Each worksheet has 8 solid figures where students choose the description of the shapes of the faces.
This worksheet shows a solid figure and asks which answer best describes the shapes of its faces. The existing sheets count faces, edges and vertices, but knowing that a square pyramid has five faces is not the same as knowing that one of them is a square and four are triangles, and the second is what tells a pyramid from a prism. A triangular prism appears among the wrong answers but is never drawn, because two triangles and three rectangles is the most useful wrong answer there is - a real solid figure rather than an invented one. Sheets can be customized, turned into flash cards, or assigned for online learning.
Student objectives
- Name the shapes of a solid's faces.
- Tell a pyramid from a prism by its faces.
- Describe a three-dimensional figure.
Everyday practice
