About this worksheet
Each worksheet has 4 problems choosing the statement that explains what a given measure of center tells you about the data.
No statement on this sheet contains the word mean, median or mode. Written the obvious way the question becomes vocabulary matching - the answer is whichever choice says most often - and the data on the page is decoration. Here each statement is in the situation's own words, so the only way through is knowing what the measure says about the pages read or the laps run. The data itself is constrained so that every wrong statement is genuinely false of it: the three measures are forced to be different numbers, and the middle two values are forced apart so exactly half the data falls below the median. Sheets can be customized, turned into flash cards, or assigned for online learning.
