Fractions of a Whole (Word) Worksheet Download
This worksheet pairs a short word problem with a picture of a food that has been cut into equal pieces, with the eaten pieces missing. A different food appears in every problem - pizza, pie, cookie, orange, pancake, cake, brownie and sandwich - so students meet the same idea across both round and rectangular wholes. Some questions say how many pieces were eaten and ask what fraction is left; others only say that some were eaten, so the missing pieces have to be counted. Answers are written over the total number of pieces, which keeps attention on the whole the fraction refers to.
