Finding the Area of a Square from Its Side Worksheet Download

The three wrong answers are the three formulas a student reaches for instead - the perimeter, the side doubled, and the side itself - so the question is really which formula rather than whether you can multiply. Every one of them is a number the given side really produces, and all four choices carry the same square unit, so nothing can be ruled out by size or by label. Sides of 2 and 4 are rejected because at 2 the area equals the doubled side and at 4 it equals the perimeter, and either way two choices collide.
