About this worksheet
Each worksheet has 6 problems writing the fraction in hundredths and the decimal shown by a shaded 10 by 10 grid.
This worksheet shows a shaded 10 by 10 grid and asks for the amount both as a fraction in hundredths and as a decimal, because the point of the model is that the same hundred squares are 47/100 and 0.47 at once. Grids shaded in whole tens are left out on purpose - forty squares is 0.40 and equally 0.4, and an answer key cannot accept both. Sheets can be customized, turned into flash cards, or assigned for online learning.
Student objectives
- Read a decimal fraction off a 10 by 10 grid.
- Write the same amount as a fraction and as a decimal.
- Recognize that hundredths on a grid and a decimal are the same number.
Everyday practice
- Shade squares on grid paper and name the amount both ways.
- Say what one square out of a hundred is worth.
- Write a decimal as a fraction over 100.
