Each worksheet has 10 word problems finding an item cost from the amount paid and the change received.
This worksheet gives children the amount paid and the change received and asks for the cost of the item. It runs the opposite way from the usual change problem, which supplies a cost and a payment and asks what comes back - subtracting to find change is a different act from working out what was subtracted, and a child who has only practiced the first often adds here. Each item carries its own price range so a scented candle never costs less than a birthday card. Sheets can be customized, turned into flash cards, or assigned for online learning.
