About this worksheet

Each worksheet has 20 problems finding 0.1, 0.01 or 0.001 more or less than a number, where every answer regroups.

This worksheet finds 0.1, 0.01 or 0.001 more or less than a number, and every problem regroups across a place value. One tenth more than 3.464 is 3.564 and needs no thought beyond reading the right digit; one tenth more than 3.964 is where a student finds out whether they understand place value. The digit being changed is a nine when the question adds and a zero when it subtracts, so the change always carries into the place on its left, and one problem in four carries twice. Every number is written to three places, question and answer alike, so that adding a thousandth to 4.379 has the single answer 4.380. Sheets can be customized, turned into flash cards, or assigned for online learning.
