About this worksheet
Each worksheet has 10 problems choosing the best estimate for the weight of an everyday object in ounces, pounds or tons.
The site estimates weight in metric only - grams and kilograms. This standard names customary and metric together, and the customary half had no worksheet at all. The four choices are orders of magnitude apart, which is the only thing that makes an estimate markable: a bowling ball is about 12 pounds, and offering 10, 12 and 15 pounds asks for a measurement where all three are arguable. Offering 12 ounces, 12 pounds, 200 pounds and 2 tons asks the question an estimate can actually be graded on. Each wrong weight is written in its own natural unit, so it reads like a real measurement rather than announcing itself as silly. Sheets can be customized, turned into flash cards, or assigned for online learning.
