Each worksheet has 20 problems estimating a product by rounding each factor first.
This worksheet gives children practice estimating products by rounding each factor to its greatest place value first. Both factor shapes are covered - a 3-digit number times a 1-digit number and two 2-digit numbers - and factors that already sit on a round number or exactly halfway between two are excluded, so every problem has one defensible answer. The instructions state that the factors are rounded first, because rounding the factors and rounding the finished product do not give the same estimate. Sheets can be customized, turned into flash cards, or assigned for online learning.
